Section 1069(a) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 ( Public Law 117–81 ; 135 Stat. 1912) is amended— by redesignating paragraphs
(9)through
(16)as paragraphs
(12)through (19), respectively; by inserting after paragraph
(8)the following new paragraphs: An assessment of the status of— defense intelligence assets dedicated to Afghanistan; and the ability of the United States to detect emerging threats emanating from Afghanistan against the United States and former coalition partners. An assessment of local or indigenous counterterrorism partners of the Department of Defense. An assessment of risks to the mission and risks to United States personnel involved in over-the-horizon counterterrorism options. ; and in paragraph (16), as so redesignated, by striking Afganistan and inserting Afghanistan .
