Chapter 806 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section (and conforming the table of sections at the beginning of such chapter accordingly): There is a Medical Officer of the Marine Corps who shall be appointed from among flag officers of the Navy. The Medical Officer of the Marine Corps, while so serving, shall hold the grade of rear admiral (lower half). . Section 525 of such title is amended— by redesignating subsection
(g)as subsection (h); and by inserting after subsection
(f)the following new subsection: A naval officer while serving as the Medical Officer of the Marine Corps is in addition to the number that would otherwise be permitted for the Navy for officers serving on active duty in the grade of rear admiral (lower half) under subsection (a). . Section 526 of such title is amended— by redesignating subsection
(k)as subsection (l); and by inserting after subsection
(j)the following new subsection: The limitations of this section do not apply to the flag officer who is serving as the Medical Officer of the Marine Corps. . Section 526a of such title is amended— by redesignating subsections
