Sec. 614. Authorization of incentive pay to a member of the Armed Forces whose disclosure of fraud, waste, or mismanagement results in cost savings to the military department concerned

Subchapter II of chapter 5 of title 37, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section: The Secretary concerned may pay an incentive pay to a member of the Armed Forces whose disclosure of fraud, waste, or mismanagement to a covered official, results in cost savings for the military department concerned. The amount of an award under this section may not exceed the lesser of— $10,000; or an amount equal to 1 percent of the cost savings that the covered official determines to be the total savings attributable to such disclosure.
For purposes of subsection (a)(2), the covered official may take into account cost savings projected for subsequent fiscal years that will be attributable to such disclosure. In this section, the term covered official includes the following: The Secretary concerned. The Inspector General concerned. .
