Sec. 1359. Report on Mexico

Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the President shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report that includes the following: A description of past and current bilateral security cooperation with Mexico, including through Northcom, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Justice (including the Drug Enforcement Administration), including over the preceding 10 years. A description of the benefits of partnerships with Mexican security forces in enforcing judicial process for violent crimes and cartels along the southern border.
A description of increasing cartel control over Mexican territory and its impacts on national security. A description of deteriorating role of electoral and democratic institutions, including human rights violations, and its impacts on national security. The report required by subsection
(a)shall be submitted in unclassified form, but may include a classified annex. The unclassified portion of such report shall be published on a publicly available website of the Federal government. In this section, the term appropriate congressional committees means— the congressional defense committees; the Committee on Foreign Relations and the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate; and the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives.
