Sec. 1355. GAO study on Department of Defense support for other departments and agencies of the United States Government that advance Department of Defense security cooperation objectives

The Comptroller General of the United States shall conduct a study on the use and implementation of the authority of section 385 of title 10, United States Code, relating to Department of Defense support for other departments and agencies of the United States Government that advance Department of Defense security cooperation objectives. The study required by subsection
(a)shall include the following: A review of the use and implementation of the authority of section 385 of title 10, United States Code, and congressional intent of such authority. An identification of the number of times such authority has been used. An identification of the challenges associated with the use of such authority. A description of reasons for lack of the use of such authority, if any. An identification of potential legislative actions for Congress to address with respect to such authority. An identification of potential executive actions for the Department of Defense to address with respect to such authority. The Comptroller General shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report that contains the results of the study required by subsection (a). In this subsection, the term appropriate congressional committees means— congressional defense committees; and the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate.
