Section 1251 of the William M.
(Mac)Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 ( Public Law 116–283 ) is amended in subsection (d)(1)(B) by amending clause
(v)to read as follows: An assessment of security cooperation authorities, activities, or resources required to achieve such objectives. . Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Commander of United States Indo-Pacific Command shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report on the feasibility and advisability of enhancing defense cooperation with allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region that includes the following: A description of relevant cooperation between key allies and leading partners in the Indo-Pacific region and the United States during the preceding calendar year, including mutual visits, exercises, training, and equipment opportunities. An evaluation of the feasibility of enhancing cooperation between key allies and leading partners in the Indo-Pacific region on a range of activities, including— interoperability and coordination; disaster and emergency response; enhancing maritime domain awareness and maritime security; cyber defense and communications security; military medical cooperation; virtual combined exercises and training activities; advancing programs for United States military advisors to assist in training the active and reserve components of key allies and leading partners in the Indo-Pacific region; and expanding the activities of the National Guard in the Indo-Pacific region. Any other matters the Commander of United States Indo-Pacific Command considers appropriate. In this section, the term appropriate congressional committees means— the congressional defense committees; the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives; and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate.
