Section 580A of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 ( Public Law 116–92 ) is amended by adding at the end the following: In the event of a death that requires the Secretary concerned to provide a death benefit under subchapter II of chapter 75 of title 10, United States Code, such Secretary— shall provide the next of kin or other appropriate person a commercial air travel use waiver for the transportation of deceased remains of military member who dies outside of— the United States; and a theater of combat operations; or may provide the next of kin or other appropriate person a commercial air travel use waiver for the transportation of deceased remains of military member who dies inside a theater of combat operations. .
