Not later than 120 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees the portion of the report on the risks posed by man-made space debris in low-Earth orbit described in the explanatory statement accompanying the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 ( Public Law 117–81 ) that pertains to the Department of Defense. The portion of the report shall include— an explanation of such risks to defense and national security space assets; recommendations with respect to the remediation of such risks to defense and national security assets; and outlines of plans to reduce the incident of such space debris to defense and national security assets.
In this section, the term appropriate congressional committees means— the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology of the House of Representatives; and the Committee on Armed Services and Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate.
