Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Commandant shall hire, train, and deploy not fewer than an additional 5 behavioral health specialists. Through the hiring process required under subsection (a), the Commandant shall ensure that at least 35 percent of behavioral health specialists employed by the Coast Guard have experience in behavioral healthcare for the purpose of supporting members of the Coast Guard with needs for perinatal mental health care and counseling service for miscarriage, child loss, and postpartum depression.
The support provided by the behavioral health specialists described in subsection (a)— may include care delivered via telemedicine; and shall be made widely available to members of the Coast Guard.
