Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Commandant shall incorporate the most recent oceanic and atmospheric data relating to the increasing rates of extreme weather, including flooding, into planning scenarios for Coast Guard infrastructure and mission deployments with respect to all Coast Guard Missions. In carrying out subsection (a), the Commandant shall— coordinate with the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere to ensure the incorporation of the most recent environmental and climatic data; and request technical assistance and advice from the Under Secretary in planning scenarios, as appropriate.
Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Commandant shall provide to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives a briefing on the manner in which the best-available science from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has been incorporated into at least 1 key mission area of the Coast Guard, and the lessons learned from incorporating such science.
