Not later than 60 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, acting through the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use shall— contract with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine— to study the quality and effectiveness of recovery housing in the United States and whether the availability of such housing meets demand; and to identify recommendations to promote the availability of high-quality recovery housing; and report to the Congress on the results of such review. To carry out this section there is authorized to be appropriated $1,500,000 for fiscal year 2023.
