unborn children Chapter 1 of title 1, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section: unborn child In determining the meaning of any Act of Congress, the term unborn child means a child in utero, and the term child in utero or child, who is in utero means a member of the species homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb. . The table of sections at the beginning of such chapter is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 8 the following new item: 9.
Definition of unborn child . . Section 1093 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by striking fetus both places it appears and inserting unborn child . Title 18, United States Code, is amended— in section 1531, by striking fetus each place it appears and inserting unborn child ; and in section 4322(f)(1)(C), by striking fetus and inserting unborn child . Section 9802(g) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended— in the heading, by striking and inserting a fetus ; and an unborn child in paragraph (1), by striking fetus and inserting unborn child .
Section 702(f) of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 ( 29 U.S.C. 1182(f) ) is amended— in the heading, by striking and inserting a Fetus ; and an unborn child in paragraph (1), by striking fetus and inserting unborn child . Section 301(c)(1) of the National Organ Transplant Act ( 42 U.S.C. 274e(c)(1) ) is amended by striking a fetus and inserting an unborn child . Title IV of the Public Health Service Act ( 42 U.S.C. 281 et seq. ) is amended— in section 464N(c)(2)(G), by striking fetuses and inserting unborn children ; in section 498— by striking fetus each place it appears and inserting unborn child ; and by striking fetuses each place it appears and inserting unborn children ; in section 498A(g), by striking fetus and inserting unborn child ; and in section 498B(c)— in the heading, by striking and inserting Fetuses ; and Unborn Children in paragraph (2), by striking fetus and inserting unborn child .
Title XXVII of the Public Health Service Act ( 42 U.S.C. 300gg et seq. ) is amended— in section 2705(f)— in the heading, by striking and inserting a Fetus ; and an unborn child in paragraph (1), by striking fetus and inserting unborn child ; and in section 2753(f)— in the heading, by striking and inserting a Fetus ; and an unborn child in paragraph (1), by striking fetus and inserting unborn child . Section 1882(x)(4) of the Social Security Act ( 42 U.S.C. 1395ss(x)(4) ) is amended— in the heading, by striking and inserting a fetus ; and an unborn child in subparagraph (A), by striking fetus and inserting unborn child .
Section 17(b)(11) of the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 ( 42 U.S.C. 1786(b)(11) ) is amended by striking fetuses and inserting unborn children . Section 701(k) of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ( 42 U.S.C. 2000e(k) ) is amended by striking fetus and inserting unborn child . Section 209(b) of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 ( 42 U.S.C. 2000ff–8(b) ) is amended— in the heading, by striking and inserting a Fetus ; and an unborn child in paragraph (1), by striking fetus and inserting unborn child .
