Sec. 31071. Native Hawaiian health care systems

In addition to amounts otherwise available, there is appropriated to the Secretary for fiscal year 2022, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $50,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2031, for the Secretary, not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, to award grants to, or enter into contracts with, Papa Ola Lokahi to support services described in section 6(c) of the Native Hawaiian Health Care Improvement Act ( 42 U.S.C. 11705(c) ) in accordance with this section. Amounts made available to an awardee pursuant to subsection
(a)shall be used for— the purchase, construction, alteration, renovation, or equipping of health facilities; maintenance and improvement projects; information technology, telehealth infrastructure, electric health records systems, and medical equipment; and awarding grants to, or entering into contracts with, Native Hawaiian health care systems (directly, or through subgrants or subcontracts) to support services described in section 6(c) of the Native Hawaiian Health Care Improvement Act ( 42 U.S.C. 11705(c) ), on the condition that such grants or contracts may only be used for the purposes and uses described in paragraphs
(1)through (3). Subsections
(e)and (f)(4) of section 6 of the Native Hawaiian Health Care Improvement Act ( 42 U.S.C. 11705(e) , 11705(f)(4)) shall not apply to grants (or subgrants) made using amounts made available under subsection (a). In this section: The term Native Hawaiian health care system has the meaning given the term in section 12 of the Native Hawaiian Health Care Improvement Act ( 42 U.S.C. 11711 ). The term Papa Ola Lokahi has the meaning given the term in section 12 of the Native Hawaiian Health Care Improvement Act ( 42 U.S.C. 11711 ).
