In addition to amounts otherwise available, there is appropriated to the Secretary of Agriculture for fiscal year 2022, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $250,000,000, to remain available until expended, to provide— technical assistance and evaluation with respect to the activities described in subparagraphs
(A)through
(D)of paragraph (2); and grants and monetary incentives to carry out 1 or more of the following: Improving the nutritional quality of meals and snacks served under a child nutrition program. Enhancing the nutrition and wellness environment of institutions participating in a child nutrition program, including by reducing the availability of less healthy foods during the school day. Increasing the procurement of fresh, local, regional, and culturally appropriate foods and foods produced by underserved or limited resource farmers, as defined by the Secretary of Agriculture, to be served as part of a child nutrition program. Funding a statewide nutrition education coordinator— to support individual school food authority nutrition education efforts; and to facilitate collaboration with other nutrition education efforts in the State. In this section, the term State has the meaning given the term in section 12(d) of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act ( 42 U.S.C. 1760(d) ).
