Section 296 of the Trade Act of 1974 ( 19 U.S.C. 2401e ) is amended— in subsection (a)(1)(A), by striking 90 days and inserting 120 days ; in subsection (b)— in paragraph (3)(B), by striking $4,000 and inserting $12,000 ; and in paragraph (4)(C), by striking $8,000 and inserting $24,000 ; in subsection (c), by striking $12,000 and inserting $36,000 ; and by adding at the end the following new subsection: The Secretary of Agriculture shall adjust each dollar amount limitation described in this section on the date that is 30 days after the date of the enactment of this subsection, and at the beginning of each fiscal year thereafter, to reflect the percentage (if any) of the increase in the average of the Consumer Price Index for the preceding 12-month period compared to the Consumer Price Index for fiscal year 2020.
In making an adjustment under paragraph (1), the Secretary— shall round the amount of any increase in the Consumer Price Index to the nearest dollar; and may ignore any such increase of less than 1 percent. For purposes of this subsection, the term Consumer Price Index means the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the Department of Labor. .
