Title VII of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 ( 6 U.S.C. 341 et seq. ), as amended by this Act, is further amended by adding at the end the following new section: All uniformed law enforcement officers of the Department who are required to display or wear the official insignia or uniform (as such term is defined in section 716(c)(3) of title 18, United States Code) of the Department or component, as the case may be, to perform the duties of such officer shall display or wear such official insignia or uniform in a manner that is visible to others when carrying out such duties, including when deployed to augment State or local law enforcement capabilities. The requirement under subsection
(a)shall not apply in the case of a law enforcement officer of the Department or component, as the case may be, who is engaged in undercover or covert operations. . The table of contents in section 1(b) of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, as amended by this Act, is further amended by inserting after the item relating to section 718 the following new item: Sec. 719. Department component insignia required. .
