Sec. 734. Pilot program on assistance for mental health appointment scheduling at military medical treatment facilities

The Secretary of Defense shall carry out a pilot program to provide direct assistance for mental health appointment scheduling at military medical treatment facilities and clinics selected by the Secretary for participation in the pilot program in a number determined by the Secretary. Not later than 90 days after the date on which the pilot program terminates, the Secretary shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the House of Representatives and the Senate a report on the pilot program.
Such report shall include an assessment of— the effectiveness of the pilot program with respect to improved access to mental health appointments; and any barriers to scheduling mental health appointments under the pilot program observed by health care professionals or other individuals involved in scheduling such appointments. The authority to carry out the pilot program under subsection
(a)shall terminate on the date that is one year after the commencement of the pilot program.
