Section 554(a) of the William M.
(Mac)Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 ( Public Law 116–283 ) is amended— in the section heading, by striking and inserting Deputy ; Assistant in paragraph (1)— in the matter preceding subparagraph (A)— by striking Secretary of Defense and inserting Inspector General of the Department of Defense ; and by striking Deputy and inserting Assistant ; in subparagraph (A), by striking of the Department ; and in subparagraph (B), by striking report directly to and serve and inserting be ; in paragraph (2)— in the matter preceding clause
