Sec. 349. Briefing on Air Force plan for certain aerospace ground equipment modernization

Not later than March 1, 2022, the Secretary of the Air Force shall provide a briefing to the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives on current and future plans for the replacement of aging aerospace ground equipment, which shall include— an analysis of the average yearly cost to the Air Force of maintaining legacy and out-of-production A/M32A-60 and A/M32C-10 air start carts; a comparison of the cost of reconditioning these existing legacy systems compared to the cost of replacing them with next-generation air start carts; an analysis of the long-term maintenance and fuel savings that would be realized by the Air Force if the legacy systems were upgraded to next-generation air start carts; an analysis of the tactical and logistical benefits of transitioning from multi-component aerospace ground equipment systems to modern all-in-one systems; and an overview of existing and future plans to replace legacy air start carts with modern aerospace ground equipment technology.
