Sec. 335. Department of Defense plan to meet science-based emissions targets

Not later than September 30, 2022, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to Congress a plan to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of the Department of Defense, including Department of Defense functions that are performed by contractors, in line with science-based emissions targets. The Secretary shall submit to Congress annual reports on the progress of the Department of Defense toward meeting the science-based emissions targets in the plan required by subsection (a). In this section, the term science-based emissions target means a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions consistent with preventing an increase in global average temperature of greater than or equal to 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels.
