Sec. 1260. Department of Defense study on the emergence of militia fleets in the South China Sea

The Secretary of Defense shall carry out a study on the challenges posed by the emergence of militia fleets in the South China Sea, including— a tactical threat assessment and assessment of United States Navy and Coast Guard capability; options for countering militia fleets; and an assessment of future capabilities needed to address those challenges. Not later than one year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Armed Services of the Senate a report on the study conducted pursuant to subsection (a).
In this section, the term militia fleet means the People’s Armed Forces Maritime Militia or other subset national militias of China.
