It is the sense of Congress that— since 1948, Israel has been one of the strongest friends and allies of the United States; Israel is a stable, democratic country in a region often marred by turmoil; it is essential to the strategic interest of the United States to continue to offer full security assistance and related support to Israel; and such assistance and support is especially vital as Israel confronts a number of potential challenges at the present time, including continuing threats from Iran.
