It is the sense of Congress that— an immense amount of operational data and intelligence has been developed over the past two decades of war in Afghanistan; and this information is valuable and must be appropriately retained. The Secretary of Defense shall— archive and standardize operational data from Afghanistan across the myriad of defense information systems; and ensure the Afghanistan operational data is structured, searchable, and usable across the joint force. Not later than March 4, 2022, the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security shall provide a briefing to the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives on how the Department of Defense has removed, retained, and assured long-term access to operational data from Afghanistan across each military department and command.
Such briefing shall address— the manner in which the Department of Defense is standardizing and archiving intelligence and operational data from Afghanistan across the myriad of defense information systems; and the manner in which the Department is ensuring access to Afghanistan operational data across the joint force.
