Sec. 1055. Report on defense utility of United States territories and possessions

Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit a to the congressional defense committees a report that includes— a detailed description of the manner in which United States territories and possessions in the Pacific could contribute to the execution of the operational and contingency plans of the Department of Defense, as well as the peacetime forward posture of the Department; an assessment of the required resources associated with environmental restoration and military construction on United States territories and possessions in the Pacific in order to facilitate the presence of United States military forces; a description of the additional logistical requirements or considerations associated with the requirements of paragraph (2); and any other matters the Secretary of Defense, in coordination with the Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command, considers appropriate.
The report described in subsection
(a)shall be submitted in unclassified form that can be made available to the public, but may include a classified annex.
