Sec. 705. Correction of exposure records by members of the Armed Forces and veterans

The Secretary of Defense shall provide a means for members of the Armed Forces and veterans to update their records as necessary to reflect a toxic exposure by such member or veteran in the Individual Longitudinal Exposure Record, or successor system. To update a record under subsection (a), a member of the Armed Forces or veteran, as the case may be, shall provide such evidence as the Secretary of Defense considers necessary. In reviewing evidence provided under paragraph (1), the Secretary of Defense shall give the benefit of the doubt to the member of the Armed Forces or veteran who provided the evidence, as the case may be, in a manner that is equivalent to the benefit of the doubt required under section 5107(b) of title 38, United States Code.
The Secretary of Defense shall prescribe by regulation the evidence considered necessary under paragraph (1). In this section, the term toxic exposure has the meaning given that term in section 101(37) of title 38, United States Code, as added by section 102(b) .
