Sec. 1406. Study examining the causes and impacts of black carbon

Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Administrator and the Secretary of Interior shall make appropriate arrangements with the National Academies under which the National Academies shall conduct a study that— quantifies the sources of black carbon emissions, including wildfires and natural processes; examines the impacts of black carbon on the health, finances, society, and culture of Indigenous communities; examines the impacts of black carbon on marine and terrestrial Arctic wildlife; and examines the role of black carbon in climate change.
There is authorized to be appropriated to the Administrator $1,000,000 for fiscal year 2022 to carry out this section.
