Sec. 1647. Electric vehicle working group

Not later than 240 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Transportation and the Secretary of Energy shall jointly establish a working group consisting of Federal and non-Federal stakeholders to make recommendations on the development, adoption, and integration of light and heavy duty electric vehicles into the transportation and energy systems of the United States. The working group shall be composed of— the Secretaries (or designees), who shall be co-chairs of the working group; and relevant Federal and non-Federal stakeholders, as determined by the Secretaries.
The Secretaries shall ensure that the members of the working group include individuals with a balance of backgrounds, experiences, view points, and represent geographically diverse regions of the United States. The working group shall meet not less frequently than once every 120 days. The Secretaries, in consultation with the working group, shall submit to Congress, a report on the status of electric vehicle adoption, opportunities, and challenges to expanding adoption of electric vehicles, and develop strategies to address these opportunities and challenges.
A joint report and strategy shall be submitted to Congress by September 30, 2025. The working group shall terminate on the date on which the report and strategy under subsection
(d)are submitted.
