Section 5302 of title 49, United States Code, is amended— by redesignating paragraphs
(1)through
(24)as paragraphs (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10), (11), (12), (13), (14), (15), (16), (17), (18), (19), (20), (21), (22), (23), (24), and (25), respectively; and by inserting before paragraph
(2)(as so redesignated) the following: The term assault on a transit worker means a circumstance in which an individual knowingly, without lawful authority or permission, and with intent to endanger the safety of any individual, or with a reckless disregard for the safety of human life, interferes with, disables, or incapacitates a transit worker while the transit worker is performing the duties of the transit worker. ; and in subparagraph
(G)of paragraph
(4)(as so redesignated)— by redesignating clauses
(iv)and
(v)as clauses
(v)and (vi), respectively; by inserting after clause
(iii)the following: provides that if equipment to fuel privately owned zero-emission passenger vehicles is installed, the recipient of assistance under this chapter shall collect fees from users of the equipment in order to recover the costs of construction, maintenance, and operation of the equipment; ; in clause
(vi)(as so redesignated)— in subclause (XIII), by striking and at the end; in subclause (XIV), by adding and after the semicolon; and by adding at the end the following: technology to fuel a zero-emission vehicle; . Section 601(a)(12)(E) of title 23, United States Code, is amended by striking section 5302(3)(G)(v) and inserting section 5302(4)(G)(v) . Section 5323(e)(3) of title 49, United States Code, is amended by striking section 5302(3)(J) and inserting section 5302(4)(J) . Section 5336(e) of title 49, United States Code, is amended by striking , as defined in section 5302(4) . Section 28501(4) of title 49, United States Code, is amended by striking section 5302(a)(6) and inserting section 5302 .
