Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Director of National Intelligence, consistent with the protection of intelligence sources and methods, shall— complete an assessment to identify the role of foreign groups, including entities, adversaries, governments, or other groups, in domestic violent extremist activities in the United States; and submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report containing the findings of the Director with respect to the assessment.
The report under subsection (a)(2) shall be submitted in unclassified form, but may include a classified annex. The Director shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees the report under subsection (a)(2) as a separate report from the report submitted under section 824(b)(1). In this section, the term appropriate congressional committees means— the congressional intelligence committees; the Committee on Foreign Relations and the Committee on the Judiciary of the Senate; and the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on the Judiciary of the House of Representatives.
