Part III of the Federal Power Act ( 16 U.S.C. 825 et seq.) is amended by inserting after section 317 the following: There shall be established in the Commission an office to be known as the Office of Transmission. The Office of Transmission shall be administered by a Director who shall be appointed by the Chairman of the Commission with approval by the Commission. The Director shall— review transmission plans submitted by public utilities in accordance with the regional and interregional transmission planning processes established pursuant to section 206; coordinate all transmission-related matters of the Commission, as the Commission determines appropriate; and carry out the responsibilities of the Commission under section 216, in coordination with the Office of Energy Projects of the Commission. .
