Section 2(c)(2)(D) of the Railroad Unemployment Insurance Act ( 45 U.S.C. 352(c)(2)(D) ) is amended— in clause (i)— in subclause (I), by striking 185 days and inserting 305 days ; in subclause (II), by striking 19 consecutive 14-day periods and inserting 31 consecutive 14-day periods ; and by striking 6 consecutive 14-day periods and inserting 18 consecutive 14-day periods ; in clause (ii)— by striking 120 days of unemployment and inserting 240 days of unemployment ; by striking 12 consecutive 14-day periods and inserting 24 consecutive 14-day periods ; and by striking 6 consecutive 14-day periods and inserting 18 consecutive 14-day periods ; and in clause (iii)— by striking June 30, 2021 and inserting June 30, 2022 ; and by striking the provisions of clauses
(i)and
(ii)shall not apply to any employee whose extended benefit period under subparagraph
(B)begins after March 14, 2021, and shall not apply to any employee with respect to any registration period beginning after April 5, 2021. and inserting the provisions of clauses
(i)and
(ii)shall not apply to any employee with respect to any registration period beginning after August 29, 2021. Funds appropriated under either the first or second sentence of clause
(v)of section 2(c)(2)(D) of the Railroad Unemployment Insurance Act shall be available to cover the cost of additional extended unemployment benefits provided under such section 2(c)(2)(D) by reason of the amendments made by subsection
(a)as well as to cover the cost of such benefits provided under such section 2(c)(2)(D) as in effect on the day before the date of enactment of this Act.
