Section 451 of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 ( 6 U.S.C. 271 ) is amended— by striking Bureau of each place such term appears and inserting U.S. ; and in subsection (a)— by redesignating paragraphs (2), (3), (4), and
(5)as paragraphs (3), (4), (5), and (6), respectively; and by inserting after paragraph
(1)the following: The mission of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is to secure America’s promise as a Nation that welcomes immigrants and refugees by— providing accurate and useful information to its customers; granting humanitarian, immigration, and citizenship benefits; promoting an awareness and understanding of citizenship; and ensuring the integrity of the United States immigration system. .
