The purpose of this Act is to make assistance available for school-based mentoring programs for at-risk students in order to— establish, expand, or support school-based mentoring programs; assist at-risk students in middle school and high school in developing cognitive and social-emotional skills; and prepare such at-risk students for success in high school, postsecondary education, and the workforce.
