In this Act: The term appropriate congressional committees means— the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate ; the Committee on the Judiciary of the Senate ; the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives ; and the Committee on the Judiciary of the House of Representatives . The term Basic Law means the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the PRC. The term Hong Kong means the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The term NPC means the National People’s Congress of the PRC.
The term PRC means the People’s Republic of China. The term priority Hong Kong resident means— any lawful resident of Hong Kong or lawful permanent residents of Hong Kong who, as of the date of the enactment of this Act— holds no right to citizenship or residency in any country or jurisdiction other than in the PRC, Hong Kong, or Macau; and has continuously resided in Hong Kong during the 10-year period ending on such date of enactment; and the immediate family member of any person described in subparagraph (A).
The term Sino-British Joint Declaration means the Joint Declaration of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on the Question of Hong Kong, done at Beijing December 19, 1984.
