Sec. 313. Survey and market research of technologies for phase out by Department of Defense of use of fluorinated aqueous film-forming foam

The Secretary of Defense shall conduct a survey and market research of relevant technologies, other than fire-fighting agent solutions, to determine whether any such technologies are available and can be adapted quickly for use by the Department of Defense to execute the phase-out by the Department of the use of fluorinated aqueous film-forming foam. The technologies surveyed or researched under paragraph
(1)shall include the following: Hangar flooring systems. Liquid drainage flood assemblies. Fire-fighting agent delivery systems. Containment systems. Such other relevant technologies as the Secretary determines appropriate. Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall brief the congressional defense committees on the results of the survey and market research conducted under subsection (a). The briefing required under paragraph
(1)shall include the following: A description of the technologies surveyed and researched under subsection (a). An identification of any such technologies that were considered for further testing or analysis. An identification of any other technologies useful for the phase-out by the Department of the use of fluorinated aqueous film-forming foam that are undergoing additional analysis for possible application within the Department.
