Sec. 1093. Harmful algal blooms demonstration program

The Secretary is authorized to carry out a demonstration program to determine the causes of, and how to effectively treat and eliminate, harmful algal blooms within the Great Lakes and Lake Okeechobee, Florida, and applicable tributaries. In carrying out the demonstration program under subsection (a), the Secretary shall consult with appropriate Federal and State agencies. In carrying out the demonstration program under subsection (a), the Secretary shall make maximum use of data in existence on the date of enactment of this Act and ongoing programs and efforts of Federal agencies and States. An activity carried out under the demonstration program under subsection
(a)shall be at full Federal expense. There is authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $25,000,000, to remain available until expended.
