Section 922(v)(2) of title 18, United States Code, as added by section 512 of this Act, is amended— by striking weapon otherwise lawfully and inserting the following: “weapon— otherwise lawfully ; by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following: registered under the National Firearms Act. . Part I of subchapter B of chapter 53 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by inserting after section 5841 the following: Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of the Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety Act of 2020 , the Attorney General shall promulgate regulations to carry out the registration of semiautomatic assault weapons (as defined in section 921(a) of title 18) required under section 922(v)(2)(B) of such title 18. .
The table of sections in part I of subchapter B of chapter 53 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 5841 the following: 5841A. Registration of semiautomatic assault weapons. .
