In accordance with the Act of August 5, 1954 ( 42 U.S.C. 2001 et seq.) (commonly referred to as the Transfer Act ), the Indian Health Service shall be responsible for the medical care and treatment of all Indians detained or incarcerated in an Office of Justice Services or tribal detention or correctional center. Care shall be provided to those individuals without regard to the individual's normal domicile. The Office of Justice Services and the Indian Health Service shall enter a memorandum of agreement to implement this section.
Such agreement shall include provisions regarding appropriate training, treatment locations for detained or incarcerated individuals, and other matters relating to medical care and treatment under this section.
