The Administrator shall conduct a study on the feasibility of using in-space robotic refueling, repair, or refurbishment capabilities to extend the useful life of telescopes and other science missions that are operational or in development as of the date of the enactment of this Act. The study conducted under paragraph
(1)shall include the following: An identification of the technologies and in-space testing required to demonstrate the in-space robotic refueling, repair, or refurbishment capabilities described in paragraph (1). The projected cost of using such capabilities, including the cost of extended operations for science missions described in that paragraph. Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Administrator shall provide to the appropriate committees of Congress and the Space Studies Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine a briefing on the results of the study conducted under subsection (a)(1).
