Section 102(b)(1) of the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 ( 22 U.S.C. 6412(b)(1) ) is amended— in subparagraph (B), by striking , including policies and inserting , including interference in the right of religious communities to choose their leaders, policies ; and by adding at the end the following new subparagraph: Because matters relating to religious freedom in China are complex in scope and intensity and often vary by ethnicity and geographic or administrative region, each chapter on China in the Annual Report shall include separate sections on— Tibet; the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region;
Hong Kong and Macau; unrecognized or independent Catholic and Protestant house churches ; and Falun Gong and faith-based or new religious movements. .
