Sec. 7. Study of energy innovation in marine transportation and infrastructure resilience

The Secretary of Energy, in consultation with the Secretary of Transportation and the Secretary of Commerce, shall conduct a study to examine opportunities for research and development in advanced marine energy technologies— to support the maritime transportation sector to enhance job creation, economic development, and competitiveness; to support associated maritime energy infrastructure, including infrastructure that serves ports, to improve system resilience and disaster recovery; and to enable scientific missions at sea and in extreme environments, including the Arctic.
Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Energy shall submit to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology of the House of Representatives a report that describes the results of the study conducted under subsection (a).
