Section 234A of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 ( 42 U.S.C. 2282a ) is amended— in the heading, by inserting after and Whistleblower ; Safety in subsection a.— by inserting , or who violates any applicable rule, regulation or order related to whistleblower protections, before shall be subject to a civil penalty ; and by adding at the end the following new sentence: The Secretary of Energy may carry out this section with respect to the National Nuclear Security Administration by acting through the Administrator for Nuclear Security. ; and by adding at the end the following new subsection:
In this section, the term whistleblower protections means the protections for contractors from reprisals pursuant to section 4712 of title 41, United States Code, section 211 of the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974 ( 42 U.S.C. 5851 ), or other provisions of Federal law affording such protections. .
