In this title: The term award year has the meaning given the term in section 481(a) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 1088(a) ). The term authorizing committees has the meaning given the term in section 103 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 1003 ). The term FAFSA means an application under section 483 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 1090 ) for Federal student financial aid. The term institution of higher education has the meaning given the term in section 102 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 1002 ).
The term qualifying emergency has the meaning given the term in section 3502 of the CARES Act ( Public Law 116–136 ), as amended by this Act. The term Secretary means the Secretary of Education.
