Section 633(a) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014 ( 10 U.S.C. 1475 note) is amended— by redesignating paragraphs
(1)through
(4)as subparagraphs
(A)through (D), respectively; by inserting before
(1)Each Secretary ; in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by inserting a casualty assistance officer who is after jurisdiction of such Secretary ; by striking spouses and other dependents of members and all that follows through services: and inserting an em dash; and by inserting before subparagraph (A), as redesignated, the following: a spouse and any other dependent of a member of such Armed Force (including the reserve components thereof) who dies on active duty; and a dependent described in subparagraph
(A)if the spouse of the deceased member dies and the dependent (or the guardian of such dependent) requests such assistance. Casualty assistance officers described in paragraph
(1)shall provide to spouses and dependents described in that paragraph the following services: .
