Sec. 589E. Training program regarding foreign malign influence campaigns

Not later than September 30, 2021, the Secretary of Defense shall establish a program for training members of the Armed Forces and civilian employees of the Department of Defense regarding the threat of foreign malign influence campaigns targeted at such individuals and the families of such individuals, including such campaigns carried out through social media. Not later than 30 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall designate an official of the Department who shall be responsible for coordinating and integrating the training program under this section. In coordinating and integrating the training program under this section, the official designated under subsection
(b)shall review best practices of existing training programs across the Department. Not later than October 30, 2021, the Secretary shall submit a report to the congressional defense committees detailing the program established under this section. In this section, the term foreign malign influence has the meaning given that term in section 119C of the National Security Act of 1947 ( 50 U.S.C. 3059 ).
