Sec. 1644. Role of Secretary of Defense and Secretary of Energy on Nuclear Weapons Council

Subsection
(a)of section 179 of title 10, United States Code, is amended— by redesignating paragraphs
(1)through
(6)as paragraphs
(3)through (8), respectively; and by inserting before paragraph (3), as so redesignated, the following new paragraphs: The Secretary of Defense. The Secretary of Energy. . Subsection
(b)of section 179 of title 10, United States Code, is amended to read as follows: The Council shall be co-chaired by the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Energy. Any reference in any statute or regulation to the Chairman of the Council shall be deemed to be a reference to the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Energy jointly. The Council shall meet not less often than once every three months. To the extent possible, not later than seven days before a meeting, the Chairman shall disseminate to each member of the Council the agenda and documents for such meeting. .
