The Secretary of the Interior, acting through the Director of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, may reimburse the owner of livestock for any loss of livestock resulting from depredation by any population of a species if the population is listed under as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act of 1973 ( 16 U.S.C. 1531 et seq.) and includes or derives from members of the species that were reintroduced into the wild. The Secretary may not require the owner of livestock to present the body of individual livestock as a condition of payment of reimbursement under this section. The Secretary may accept and use donations of funds to pay reimbursement under this section.
