Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Commandant of the Coast Guard shall submit a report to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation of the Senate on the following: The feasibility, safety, and cost effectiveness of using liquefied natural gas to fuel new Coast Guard vessels. The feasibility, safety, and cost effectiveness of converting existing vessels to run on liquefied natural gas fuels. The operational benefits of using liquefied natural gas to fuel Coast Guard vessels.
