Section 319I ( 42 U.S.C. 247d–7b ) is amended— in the section heading, by striking and inserting Health Professions Volunteers ; Volunteer Health Professional in subsection (a), by adding at the end the following: Such health care professionals may include members of the National Disaster Medical System, members of the Medical Reserve Corps, and individual health care professionals. ; in subsection (i), by adding at the end the following: In order to inform the development of such mechanisms by States, the Secretary shall make available information and material provided by States that have developed mechanisms to waive the application of licensing requirements to applicable health professionals seeking to provide medical services during a public health emergency.
Such information shall be made publicly available in a manner that does not compromise national security. ; and in subsection (k), by striking 2014 through 2018 and inserting 2019 through 2023 . Section 319C–1(b)(2)(A)(iv) (42 U.S.C. 247d–3a(b)(2)(A)(iv)) is amended to read as follows: a description of the mechanism the entity will implement to utilize the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, or other mutual aid agreement, for medical and public health mutual aid, and, as appropriate, the activities such entity will implement pursuant to section 319I to improve enrollment and coordination of volunteer health care professionals seeking to provide medical services during a public health emergency, which may include— providing a public method of communication for purposes of volunteer coordination (such as a phone number); providing for optional registration to participate in volunteer services during processes related to State medical licensing, registration, or certification or renewal of such licensing, registration, or certification; or other mechanisms as the State determines appropriate; .
