Section 1108(g)(5) of the Social Security Act ( 42 U.S.C. 1308(g)(5) ) is amended— in subparagraph (A), by striking “and (E)” and inserting “(E), and (F)”; in subparagraph (C), in the matter preceding clause (i), by striking “and (E)” and inserting “and (F)”; by redesignating subparagraph
(E)as subparagraph (F); by inserting after subparagraph (D), the following: Subject to subparagraph (F), for the period beginning January 1, 2019, and ending September 30, 2019, the amount of the increase otherwise provided under subparagraph
(A)for the Northern Mariana Islands shall be further increased by $20,000,000. ; and in subparagraph
(F)(as redesignated by paragraph
(3)of this section)— by striking title XIX, during and inserting “title XIX— during ; by striking and
(D)and inserting , (D), and
(E); by striking and the Virgin Islands each place it appears and inserting , the Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands ; by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following: for the period beginning January 1, 2019, and ending September 30, 2019, with respect to payments to Guam and American Samoa from the additional funds provided under subparagraph (A), the Secretary shall increase the Federal medical assistance percentage or other rate that would otherwise apply to such payments to 100 percent. . The amounts provided by the amendments made by subsection
(a)are designated by the Congress as being for an emergency requirement pursuant to section 251(b)(2)(A)(i) of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985.
